What To Expect

Visiting a congregation for the first time may be intimidating.  Let us explain what you can expect when visiting with us.  The apostle Paul says in Romans:

"Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 15:5-6)

We too as individuals and as a church collectively seek to glorify God in our lives and in our worship, according to Christ Jesus.  Jesus said, "true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers" (John 4:23).  When you join us for worship, we hope you’ll find we seek to worship God in spirit (from the heart) and in truth (according to scripture).  Some specific things you will see are:

  • The congregation sings together to worship God and teach each other as the scriptures instruct (Ephesians5:19; Colossians 3:16).
  • We pray together to praise God and thank Him and ask Him to help our needs and the needs of others (1 Timothy 2:1-4; Philippians 4:6-7).
  • We remember the sacrifice of Jesus - His death, burial and resurrection when we share together in the Lord's supper each Sunday (1 Corinthians 11:20-36; Acts 20:7).
  • We also share financially as we take a collection to support our work as a local church.  Please know, that while we welcome and encourage our visitors to participate in our worship to God, we do not solicit contributions from our visitors.  It is the responsibility of our members to give freely and willingly as God has blessed us (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:7-15).
  • Finally, we listen to God's word as the scriptures are read and taught and preached (1 Timothy 4:13).  The preaching seeks to present truths of God and His will for our lives.  We are not concerned with human opinion, but God's word alone (Matthew 15:1-9).  As Jesus said, we live "by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).

We hope you'll feel welcome among us.  Please join us and we will glorify God together!
